Consuming the right amounts of vitamins and minerals is an essential part of maintaining good health. Supplements are combinations of vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients. While a multivitamin can help to fill any nutritional gaps, it’s still important to strive to eat a healthy and balanced diet whenever possible.

The role of vitamins

Vitamins are organic compounds that our bodies need in small amounts to keep functioning. They play essential roles in our bodies, serving as the building blocks, defenders, and maintenance workers.

There are 13 vitamins that our bodies need: vitamins A, C, D, E, K, and the B vitamins (thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, biotin, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, and folate). These vitamins come from the food we eat and the supplements we take. Each vitamin has unique functions in our bodies.

Why should we take supplements?

According to several studies, most adults are not getting the nutrients they need from their diet. This can lead to health problems such as weak bones, fatigue, and a weakened immune system. Many people do not eat a balanced diet that includes all the major food groups. Additionally, the body absorbs nutrients less effectively as we age. Some medications can also interfere with the absorption of vitamins and minerals, causing deficiencies.

Vega Urgent D

Vitamin D is an essential nutrient that helps the body absorb calcium and phosphorus, two minerals essential for strong bones. Although we get a percentage of vitamin D from food, it is difficult to get enough through diet alone. For most people, the best way to ensure adequate vitamin D levels is to take a supplement. Vitamin D supplements are available as either vitamin D2 (“ergocalciferol” or pre-vitamin D) or vitamin D3 (“cholecalciferol”).

Both forms are effective, but vitamin D3 is more efficient because it is the form of vitamin D that our bodies naturally produce when exposed to sunlight. The recommended dose is 400 IU (international units) per day for adults. However, higher doses may be necessary for people with a higher risk of vitamin D deficiency, such as those with dark skin or who do not get much sun exposure. Vega Urgent-D contains 2000 IU Vitamin D3 in chewable tablets, ensuring efficient delivery of this much-needed nutrient.

Vega Iron Bisglycinate

Iron plays an essential part in the making of blood cells that transport oxygen around the body. Therefore, those lacking iron may feel fatigued, experience poor concentration, and suffer from frequent bouts of illness. The only way to know your iron levels is to get a blood test and seek advice from your doctor.

Iron supplements must only be taken when needed, as excess iron in the body can also be harmful. Iron supplements are notoriously uncomfortable for the digestive system, so it’s best to go for a form that reduces the risk of heartburn, nausea, and constipation such as Vega Iron Bisglycinate. Vega Iron Bisglycinate contains a prebiotic which makes the formulation more gut-friendly. The iron is found in a highly absorbable form, making sure your body gets the iron it needs.

Vega Collagen Complex

Collagen is the main structural protein of connective tissue, making up 30% of the total protein mass of mammals. Although collagen supplement use is on the rise, most people don’t know about its many potential benefits. Collagen is found in animal products such as bones and skin (including bone broth) and certain types of seafood.

Vega Collagen Complex can help keep your skin, joints, and bones supple and strong. In addition, the supplement slows down age-related degradation of connective tissue when combined with lifestyle changes such as avoiding cigarette smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, and consuming a diet rich in fruit, vegetables, and other essential nutrients. Vega Collagen Complex is fortified with components needed for its absorption and use in the body.

While dietitians recommend getting most vitamins and minerals through the food we consume, this isn’t always possible. A multivitamin may be helpful for those who do not eat enough fruit, vegetables, and other healthy foods. They could also be beneficial if you have certain food allergies or intolerances, become pregnant, or have a disease or condition that affects nutrition.
