Skin Care

1 Year of CeraVe in Malta

For the anniversary of CeraVe in Malta, we wanted to reflect on how great ceramides are for the skin. CeraVe products are designed around the natural framework of healthy skin, and so they aim to maintain radiant, fresh-looking, and comfortable skin.

1.     Ceramides are a type of lipid that helps to keep the skin hydrated and supple.

Ceramides are fatty molecules (also known as lipids) that are a major component of the skin’s outer layer. They help to keep the skin hydrated by binding water to the stratum corneum (the outermost layer of the skin), and they also help to protect the skin from environmental damage and infection.

Ceramides are produced naturally by the body, and they can also be  found in CeraVe Therapeutic skin care brand. When used directly on the skin, ceramides can help to restore the skin’s barrier function and improve hydration. Additionally, they may also help to reduce inflammation and calm irritated skin.

2. Ceramides help to protect the skin barrier from environmental damage and pollution.

Ceramides help to keep the skin hydrated and protect it from environmental damage and pollution. Products that contain ceramides, such as CeraVe Moisturising Facial Lotion AM SPF25, replenish the skin’s natural ceramide levels and improve its barrier function. In addition to their skincare benefits, ceramides have also been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Therefore, they restore skin barrier and protect  from further damage.

3. Ceramides help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

In a recent study, participants who applied a ceramide cream twice daily for eight weeks showed a significant reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Ceramides are found naturally in the skin, but levels decline with age. This can lead to dryness, redness, and inflammation. Ceramide creams, such as CeraVe Eye Repair Cream, help to replenish the skin’s supply of ceramides, providing lasting hydration and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

4. Ceramides help to even out the skin tone

The skin is the body’s largest organ, and it plays a vital role in protecting us from the environment. Ceramides keep the skin healthy by acting as a barrier against water loss and providing moisture to the skin. They also help to regulate cell turnover, preventing the build-up of dead skin cells that can lead to clogged pores and uneven skin tone. In addition, ceramides help to protect the skin from environmental stressors such as UV radiation and pollution. When used in skincare products, ceramides can help to improve the appearance of the skin by reducing inflammation and promoting cell regeneration. As a result, ceramides are an essential ingredient in any skincare routine.

5. Ceramide-containing products relieve skin conditions that result from decreased natural ceramide levels

Think of ceramides as being the glue that keeps the skin cells together and moisture from getting out. Any disruption will cause the skin to be rough, dry, and uncomfortable. Certain conditions such as atopic dermatitis , ichthyosis (rough skin), and dry skin conditions arise due to diminished ceramides in the skin. Products that contain ceramides help the skin to heal, retain moisture, and get back to its normal, healthy state. E.g. CeraVe Moisturising Cream  & CeraVe Moisturising Lotion.

6. Ceramides help to soothe inflammation and redness

Ceramides also help to soothe inflammation and redness. When applied on the skin, ceramide-containing products like CeraVe improve dryness, roughness, and scaling. In addition, they can help to restore the skin barrier and reduce transepidermal water loss. Ceramides can be especially helpful for those with sensitive or dry skin. E.g., CeraVe SA Smoothing Cream.

7. Ceramides soothe oily skin

It may seem like oily skin would not need ceramides – there is already enough sebum, right? Wrong! In oily skin, there is often an accumulation of dead skin cells or an overcompensation of dry skin. Sebum is produced in excess and often invites debris and bacteria collection. Ceramides aid in the maintenance of the skin barrier in oily skin, especially when combined with an exfoliating ingredient. CeraVe Foaming Cleanser removes dirt and excess sebum while moisturizing the skin.

8. Ceramides can be found in skincare products, including cleansers, moisturisers, and lotions

With CeraVe, getting the right products for your skin is easy. The range offers cleaners for face and  body (e.g. CeraVe hydrating cleanser or CeraVe Cream – to – foam  cleanser). It tackles oily, dry, and ageing skin and dry or rough skin on the hands and feet (e.g., CeraVe Therapeutic Hand Cream or CeraVe SA Renewing Foot Cream).

CeraVe has you covered from head to toe! Always choose the right product for your skin and consult your pharmacist, who will help you pick the most suitable cleanser and moisturiser for your skin type.
